Tata Motors, one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers, inaugurated its 5th Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF), near the capital city. The new facility is named Re.Wi.Re (Recycle with Respect), and it was inaugurated by the Executive Director at Tata Motors, Girish Wagh. The factory is capable of safely deconstructing 18,000 end-of-life automobiles annually and uses environmentally friendly techniques. The RVSF was developed in collaboration with Johar Motors and is designed for scrapping end-of-life commercial and passenger vehicles. Tata Motors already has four previous RVSFs located in Bhubaneshwar, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Surat.
The fully digitalized factory features dedicated line-type and cell-type scrapping areas for passenger and commercial vehicles, respectively. The company conducts all its operations without using paper. Moreover, in the state-of-the-art facility, there are dedicated stations available for the dismantling of several components, such as batteries, tyres, fuel, liquids, oils, and gases. Each vehicle goes through rigorous paperwork and dismantling procedures, made especially to meet the needs of both passenger and commercial vehicles.

Commenting on the introduction of the fifth Tata Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF), the Executive Director at Tata Motors, Mr. Girish Wagh, said, "Tata Motors has been at the forefront of driving innovation and sustainability to shape the future of mobility. The Vehicle Scrappage Policy was first introduced in August 2021. The primary objective behind the introduction of this policy is to gradually phase out unfit and old vehicles across the country to lessen the amount of pollution that comes from vehicle emissions. Older vehicles damage the environment more than newer models. As per this policy, commercial vehicles older than 15 years and private vehicles older than 20 years will be deregistered in India. This policy is likely to enhance air quality and, in turn, reduce spiked pollution levels across the nation.
